Independence Day Celebration

Join in the celebration at the Town Square on Monday, July 4th.

7:00 a.m. There will be a flag raising ceremony at the Midway Town Square. Our key note speaker will be Lloyd D. Newell.

Lloyd D. Newell has addressed audiences in 46 states and more than a dozen other countries through his seminars and keynote speaking engagements. He has worked as a television news anchor and news magazine host in Pennsylvania and Utah, as well as for CNN in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the author of more than a dozen books, including The Gospel of Second Chances, Habits of Holy Men, and Blessed—The Beatitudes and the Christlike Life, and was co-editor for the books Helping and Healing Our Families and Virtue and the Abundant Life.

Mr. Newell holds a master’s degree in communications and a Ph.D. in marriage, family, and human development from Brigham Young University where he is a faculty member and for five years held the endowed Moral Education Professorship.

Since 1990 he has been the voice and writer for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s weekly inspirational broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word. This historic broadcast—the longest continuous broadcast in the world—is heard and seen each week on more than 2,000 television, radio, and cable stations by millions of people around the world.  He and his wife, Karmel, are the parents of four children.

Also in attendance will be our Honored Citizen, Swiss Miss Royalty, Swiss Chorus, Swiss Bells, and Midway String Quartet.

 
8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Pancake Breakfast at the Town Square. 

The fireworks show will begin on July 4th at approximately 10:00 p.m. from Memorial Hill, and can be seen clearly from Hamlet Park, Town Square, and various places throughout Midway.
